Prawns @ Tualang

As you can think of from the title of this post, what the heck is this Big Head Prawns? If you watch Astro AEC's Taste With Jason, visited this site before, then you should have a rough idea already.

So, on our way back from KL, we dropped by at Tanjung Tualang for a spice of our life with this great local cuisine. Big Head Prawn or in Cantonese known as "Tai Tow Har" is a fresh water prawn which looks a lil bit like lobster and prawn. It is huge in size comparatively to normal prawns, even bigger than the king prawn we had in Jogoya.

On our way there, we took the Gopeng exit at the PLUS highway and drove about 20 mins through the inner city of Jeram and Malim Mawar. There are huge ponds and lake where the locals rear these Big Head Prawns and some other fresh water fishes.

This small town of Tanjung Tualang is well known for its delicacy.
Now I am just focussing to show your the dishes we enjoyed or rather galloped there!
This is the "Pak Sook Kung" Snapper we ordered and steamed with light soya sauce. Very fresh as if it has just be caught right from the pond behind the shop. It is best served while it's hot.
A plate of vegetable, I supposed we ordered "Yau Mak" fried with Salted Bean Curd but this is definitely not what we requested. Duno what's that, but it tastes pretty fine.
We are now slowly approaching the cream of the crop...
This is the middle sized fresh water prawn deep fired with salted eggs. There are 9 prawns for 3 of us. Seemingly small from the angle of this shot, but look further... it is actually quite big already. The meat is so fresh and "padat".
This is the actual size after it has been skinned off. Kinda big right?
Tastes so good with the salted egg!
See, dear Evelyn already enjoying herself in this candid shot. So natural yet so candid!
and...finally...
the ultimatum...
...
...
what?? let me hear you say...
TAI TOW HAR !!!

Nice leh??? Again, if you can't picture how massive is the size, use the tea glass on the top tight of the picture to project the actual size of each prawn. The "sticks" at the side of the plate is actually the legs and clamps of the prawn!

My happy face with the prawn are comparatively same in size.

Let me explain part by part of the prawn. We shall begin with the head. It is stuffed and filled with the "ko" or eggs of high chloresterol !!! Wheeeee !!~~~~

Can you see the intestines and the egg oozzing out of the prawn head? So yummilicious!

That's me sucking out all the juice outta the head!!!

The prawn head skinned of its body and stretched to the max.

It is still so flexible and has so high elasticity. Let's proceed to the prawn body!

You can witness the succulent body being separated from the head.

Gosh, the meat is to tough and yet juicy that after your first bite, your tongue is so so stucked up like finger licking greatness.!

It is comparable to a chicken drumstick already. The meat is so stuffed and penuh berisi!

The prawn is so huge that Pling couldn't even squeeze it into her mouth! Wahahaha!

Nah, after eat the prawn body adee...Lick finger first... then continue with the legs...

See, the prawn meat sticks out of the legs after u poke a chopstick into the other side of the leg.

Finally the damaged done on 4 dishes for 3 person. Not a bad way to spend RM151.90 on a meal. This trip definitely unforgetable!

J. Co Donuts @ Pavilion

The day after my exam finished, my dear and Pling came down to KL for a mission - to brave the 4 hour road trip from Pg to KL seeking for shopping "inspiration".

Coincidently, since I never stepped into Pavilion myself, I took this opportunity to go walk walk a while before I go back to rot in Penang for half a year.

Pavilion was humongous! I was wondering since when in the heart of Kl city still got such a huge space to be developed into a such a huge shopping complex. It was constructed for several years and many people like me never realize until today.

My first impression was a typical one.

Pavilion? In Bukit Bintang ah? Opposite Starhill? Then the things there surely expensive gila babi wan!

Yes it is... they got all the designers' shops from the likes of Salvatore Ferragamo, The Coach, Emeregildo Zegna, Marc Jacobs, Armani and all the luxury shops like Mont Blanc, THW and many more...

Of cos dear didn't go for all those shops, they went for the likes of Dorothy Perkins, Zara, Envee, MNG and stuff lah... So, now I was made to be shopping-literate too LOL of which previously I don't really know those shops. I do not shop that often neither.

Why I still go there ah? Just to be frank, I only have one motive being there...

J.Co Donuts!!!

I am super sure that many of you have seen and tasted this donut or doughnut (to be spelt correctly). J.Co is originated from Indonesia and it has already served over 50 millions donuts in the past 2 years.

There is this super fehmes Al-Caponne donut (top right), which is the numero uno donut in J.Co. Clockwise sequence, it is followed by the Chocolate with banana, tiramisu donut, Oreo Donut, Choco Donut and Blueberry Donut. My apologies for the inaccurate names, but heck... when you have lined up for 30 minutes and smell the freshness of the donuts, nothing comes to your mind but stuffing all those donuts into your mouth... Whoaa simply tantalizing!

Half a dozen of donuts costs Rm11 but if you buy 2 dozens like many of the rest did, it costs only RM30++ (around there lah). So the more you buy, the more you save!

J.Co also sells nice beverages, I tried the Iced Chocolate (RM9) and it tastes pretty special and ultimately fresh! Dear coupled up with some french fries and pies from King Pie and Pling bought some XXL Spicy Fried Chicken from Shihlin. That made our tea time complete. In fact, it was too much that we skipped our dinner, LOL.

The first day of the KL trip ended with just some simple shopping at Pavilion. It was a great exposure...especially with the donuts WAHAHAHA
